Is there an infinite switch with a plug and outlet to use on my old hot plate with a thermostat. I will turn the thermostat highest as possible and let the infinite switch control. I want to do this because the hot plate does not work good, when it gets too hot it cuts off then too cool for too long.

 

A light dimmer switch should work fine.

That would be worrying to me. Are you sure it isn't tripping an onboard temperature limiting fuse/breaker/switch? something on the order of a Klixon switch, like these - http://www.webmail.sensata.jobs/uses/klixon/thermostat-hvac-20600.htm They are meant to keep something from going over a safe heat and prevent problems.

Not sure but an infinity will allow adjusting max heat to a lower value and may remove the concern I mentioned

 

Most light dimmers are for 500W or less. A hotplate likely would blow a dimmer.

 

You could always purchase a properly sized junction box and the cords you need to assembly it.

The switches themselves are available at lots of places.

I don't know of any premade as you describe.
