Identity of the device in the attached photo.

Can anyone help me identify the device in the attached photo. A student gave me a huge bag of resistors from a lab that his dad worked at that closed and some of these were included. There are no identifying numbers.

Measure the resistance while warming it up with a hair dryer, if it changes significantly, (decreases) then it is a themistor (NTC) Negative temperature coefficient. If on the other hand, the resistance increases, then it is a positive coefficient thermistor (PTC)

It is probably a thermistor. When I hold the top between my fingers the resistance drops from 10K to 7.8K pretty rapidly. Then when I let go it returns to 10K rapidly.
