Hi All. I am a Big fan of Home Scents... Especially having a Huge collection of Air Fresheners at Home. Some of those are even equipped with Automatic Air Sprayers with an auto-pressing time of just quarter of a second. You know... I want it strong thus I want the sprayer to give a 2 full continuous seconds of fragrance delivery. Is there such a product available in the Market? Otherwise How to make one? Please advise. Thanks for reading. Kindly provide your valuable replies. Thank You.

I would suggest hacking one of those DC motor driven auto-spray bottles to do multiple rotations, rather than once-around and stop.

Any kind of continuous spray system gets into complex pressure control problems.

How about delaying the speed of rotation. Will it work? Please suggest. Thanks for your reply.

Have you attempted to reverse engineer one of those? I can imagine a couple strategies, such as making it do the auto-press more frequently or making each auto-press longer. With these sprayers, is there a manual press option? Maybe you need a "robot" to simulate you pressing the button for as long as you like.

I don't directly have an answer to your question. However, I would like to bring up a point based upon a real life experience: One place I worked had one of those metered and timed sprayers in the mens room. Likely in the woman's room too but I've not been inside there. Every time the sprayer was depressed it would spray a single metered amount of spray. The spray was concentrated so one puff would cover up any odor from guys doing #2. One guy would go in there and take the can out of the timed delivery device and after dropping some #2 he would spray it repeatedly. The OCD in me started counting as he sat in the next stall over. He sprayed it 50 times. At least that's what I counted. As concentrated as that stuff is - spraying 50 times the normal dose could become toxic. I complained to management but they did nothing about it. Sure enough he took sick. Some respiratory case.

I don't know if there was a direct correlation between his actions and his illness, and don't know it for a fact, I just know it's true, he did that to himself with the 50X puffs. It's like inhaling or huffing some chemical in order to get high. Only I don't think he was getting high, I think he hurt his lungs. So I bring this up just to raise the alarm that 2 seconds of a quarter second spray may not be the best for your health. Also, as a second thought, the can you're wanting to spray longer may be a metered can that can only dispense a certain amount every time the plunger is depressed. Before you start building or modifying anything I suggest you take the can outside and see if you get a single puff when you press the plunger or if you get a continuous spray. My guess is that it is a metered can. The mechanics only times when the next puff is delivered. It's like one of those inhalers for asthma. One puff delivers a metered dose.

Another thing to consider is that those motorized dispensers run on batteries. When the batteries are fresh the motor runs at full speed. But as the battery voltage drops over time the motor will run slower and therefore deliver a longer puff according to your thinking. I doubt slowing the motor further will do anything to enhance the amount dispensed. The ONLY thing I can think of is to change the timing circuit to deliver a puff more often. Instead of 15 minutes or 30 minutes, whatever time it's designed to wait, you shorten the period of time by shortening the timing circuit to deliver a puff every 5 minutes. At least that way you won't be getting high concentrations of aerosol.

Be safe.

Confirmed. Continuous Spray it is.

"Another thing to consider is that those motorized dispensers run on batteries. When the batteries are fresh the motor runs at full speed. But as the battery voltage drops over time the motor will run slower and therefore deliver a longer puff according to your thinking."
Ready to attach it with main power if required. Achieving the goal is the important.

"whatever time it's designed to wait, you shorten the period of time by shortening the timing circuit to deliver a puff every 5 minutes. At least that way you won't be getting high concentrations of aerosol."
Currently there is a snowflake like wheel is present with star shaped plastic wheel having its legs like an asterisk. For every programmed duration the wheel rotates thus one leg of the asterisk wheel slightly press the can thus dispersing the scent. Instead of a wheel I need a different mechanism here.

Note:
The problem is in just pressing the canister only. It turns ups automatically.

Okay Let's shorten the time to 1 Second only. But full 1 second press is needed. Possible?
To use the existing machinery, you'd need to take over the timing circuitry to speed it up. That would be ideal, in my opinion, and might be possible but we can only guess without very clear pictures of the innards.

You can take for granted that, if you have to build a DIY solution, any timing you want can be produced electronically. The problem I see is the Rube Goldberg aspect - the mechanics of how to use or simulate that cam wheel. Maybe you could use the existing parts and replace "just" the circuit board that drives it.

There is a small solenoid that runs on 5V. It is easy to control with Arduino.
…With a logic level MOSFET switching ground (such as a 2N7000), a 10kΩ resistor (between gate and ground) and a snubber (as simple as a reverse biased diode across the solenoid coil).

Actually, with separate power supplies with grounds connected in common, this will work with solenoid of any voltage. Even if you use a 5V solenoid the Arduino must use this circuit as the solenoid current draw likely will destroy the Arduino.
