I need help identifying a component.

"External sources" was exactly my point. So to avoid a repeat failure it is wise to locate that external source, which is often another component on the same board, or an intermittent short circuit to another part of the circuit in some connection wiring. It may even be a stray strand sticking out from a wire-nut splice. Those can certainly destroy the amplifier in an aftermarket sound system in a car.
With the statement about the looks of a SMD capacitor, there is another place to look. But checking them is a challenge, and removing them can be destructive.
Probably it will be a good idea to check that 25 amp fuse to see if it has opened. A safer substitute is to temporarily patch in an old-type backup light bulb, in place of the fuse. that will reveal a shorted circuit but limit the current to avoid serious damages or fires.

We have verified that all the fuses are good. That's how I found out at there was a incorrect fuse. The screen should automatically open when the car is started but I doesn't. The radio uses the screen to show stations. The screen unit is totally unresponsive. No picture or backlight and the buttons to open, close and adjust the angle don't work. I attach a picture of what the car should look like.

OK, with the screen being non-functional that points towards the display section. In some cases the backlight fails but the screen driver is still working. That can be sensed by using a flashlight to illuminate the screen and see if any images can be detected. Because the screen does not illuminate at all. Since the radio plays, I think you said, that points toward the LCD backlight and driver system. So now it is a bit localized. The next step will be to check for voltages in that section. If the voltages are not present then it points toward the power conditioning/regulating/ and control+dimming areas.

The way I am reading it is the entire unit is non-responsive, not just the screen. Is this correct?
Have you tried bench testing the unit to confirm its not just an wiring issue inside the car? I can get a pin-out if you need, but I'd need the year/model.

Can't say I have worked on one of these but if you take some clear photo's of the whole pcb we could probably assist you a lot better.

Pinouts on the connectors would certainly be useful in tracing the problem. And I think that the radio plays, but I am no longer certain of that

The radio works but the top screen is not working at all. I tried a flashlight on it and there is no image. I'm having trouble finding the correct wiring diagram.

OK on the flashlight check. That means that it is more than just a backlight problem.
Are you able to assemble the whole system outside the car for checking, or would that be terribly difficult. Multi board systems in separate packages are usually a big challenge to service.
