"External sources" was exactly my point. So to avoid a repeat failure it is wise to locate that external source, which is often another component on the same board, or an intermittent short circuit to another part of the circuit in some connection wiring. It may even be a stray strand sticking out from a wire-nut splice. Those can certainly destroy the amplifier in an aftermarket sound system in a car.
With the statement about the looks of a SMD capacitor, there is another place to look. But checking them is a challenge, and removing them can be destructive.
Probably it will be a good idea to check that 25 amp fuse to see if it has opened. A safer substitute is to temporarily patch in an old-type backup light bulb, in place of the fuse. that will reveal a shorted circuit but limit the current to avoid serious damages or fires.
