LOL, that's what my local dealer did to my new car, and then claimed it was worth $150 or whatever ridiculous number they put on it. It's just a bargaining chip and you have no choice about it. It was applied beneath the door handles, where fingernails tend to scratch the paint over time. Maybe it'll do something useful.

What kind of vehicle has such cheap paint fingernails will leave scratches?

Every car I've ever owned shows the same wear in the well behind/beneath the handle. It doesn't scratch through the paint so much as just mar the surface and change the way light reflects. Chrysler Town &Country was the latest example. And no, I don't have unusual finger nails.

Weird. Never heard of such a wear issue before and I tend to have rather dirty hands some days. #1 problem here is with plastic door handles and like things snapping one off in the winter due to brittleness from extreme cold.

Rings, especially diamonds, scratch the hell out of paint behind door handles. The only diamond I ever bought was in North Dakota so I know they exist there.
