I have a

Sony AV Control Center FM Stereo FM-AM Receiver STR-D311 it turns on and makes sound but doesn’t recieve any station am or fm and has distorted sound when playing a cd through the cd input

With the service manual in hand (referenced in the previous posting), look for missing voltage sources. IRRC, the tuner section uses a 12V supply. If that is missing or low, you will get symptoms like this. Anytime you have multiple symptoms that don't seem related, check the power supply area. If I get time, I'll look further.
