Hello all,

I need some advice regarding the purchase of HX711 load cell amplifier boards.

The idea is to pull numbers from multiple load cells (1kg or less) simultaneously, and I need a HX711 or similar that can provide a high accuracy reading via RPi.

There are two versions of HX711 that I am looking at. As there is a large discrepancy in price, can anyone steer me in the right direction?

First I would look at the actual HX711 24-Bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for Weigh Scales data sheet. Which with that information should make it easier to see the difference between the Spark Fun breakout board and the CHENBO version breakout board. The HX711 is the same chip. Each manufacturer making a breakout board adds or removes certain features. Actually the lesser cost chip breakout in this case seems to take more advantage of the chip allowing reading of two bridges. It does not look like the Spark Fun board allows you to use both MUX inputs the HX711 has. When it comes to these breakout boards increased cost does not always point to increased features. Both boards provide regulated excitation to your load cell. The Spark Fun board has some decent links to using it with an Arduino uC which is nice and library suggestions which is also nice. For someone with strong programming skills this is no big deal but for the armature programmer it can be important.

Regardless of which way you go you will need to calibrate your end product including cal factors in your code.
