Had a good sleep. Lights flickering at 8:30 PM. TV still wailing about how terrible it is. I've walked to school in weather this bad.
Punching the reply button quick...in case the lights go out.

TV recommends I go to my safe space and cower until noon tomorrow. Meanwhile, the hurricane has dropped to a category 2 while I was asleep. If it keeps slowing at this rate I'm already in the worst of it.:D

Getting some hot food now...in case the power fails.

@#12 Please keep the live first-hand updates coming as long as you can. This is better than CNN and all the other media.
Here we know exactly what you're going through and we know you're safe.
Hang in there bud. We're all wishing for the best outcome for you.

A lot of lost power is due to above ground lines whipping into each other - an action sure to blow the transformer. Fortunately, I have underground utilities and I have not yet lost power. Since the worst has passed me by, I don't expect to lose it. Good thing too, as there is no gasoline in the area to get fuel for my generator - at best, I have about two hours of generating capability right now. I have one tree that I'll probably loose and other that is looking pretty bad. It was hit by one of the many mini tornados. One of the branches on the north side of the tree was ripped off and deposited on the south side of the tree after just missing my garage. Pretty good with the winds from the southeast all night and all day. I received quite a bit of hurricane force winds for about 14 hours. We got a lot of rain, too - probably in excess of 8 inches. The only way I can flood is if my storm drains are clogged, so at 5AM and at 3PM, I timed the feeder bands for minimal rain and ran out and unclogged them. There was close to two feet of water over the drains, so I dug down and cleared all the leafs and limbs away.

Right now, my neighborhood is completely blocked in by downed branches and trees, so I guess tomorrow I will need to break out my chainsaw and pitch in around the block. I'll try to get pictures of the mess around here tomorrow.

So the prediction of a north turn was correct. You can’t even see Florida in the latest satellite photos.
There was almost a 100% chance with it starting to move dead north near the center of the state if you put trust in the EURO prediction. ECMWF is not free so they have an added profit inventive to produce the best product. Their product was right on the money 12Z07SEP2017 vs the 'free' US GFS forecast.
