Good tip, +1.
But be advised sta-bil will not work forever. You need to run a tank of gas through it every year. Don't expect it to work after sitting at the back of the garage for 6 years, just because you put sta-bil in it.
Agreed, but it sure saved me a lot of time getting my 6 Stihl saws running every year. And the snowblower.:)

Yes, @loosewire, we are clear. Break out the beer and begin the commiseration with our friends to the west.

And all from the east who went west.

How about, "Be gone?"
Just chuggin' a glass of milk while the sweat drips right now. Back to bolting plywood on in 5 minutes.
I have about another hour of work to do. That's because I have all the panels pre-cut and labeled from the last time we did this.
If I didn't, it would take a young man all day to put the shields on.
What? You can't hold half a sheet of plywood 4 feet off the ground with one hand while you screw bolts into concrete with the other hand?
Getting old sucks!:(

I'm not sure Miami is going to be there tomorrow.
Let us know when your electricity comes back on.
It's looking like we will experience nothing more than TS force winds. This is run-of-mill for us.

If we lose power, I suspect it will be less than 24 hours.

If the storm continues on its present path -- and regains some energy -- we'll be waiting for you to tell us when civilization returns to the Tampa Bay area.

This is something I wish on no one. Again, good luck.

It's beginning to look like Miami will be a good place to evac to from Tampa.

The swing in the hurricane's projected path overnight caught many on Florida's Gulf coast off guard. By late morning, few businesses in St. Petersburg had put plywood or hurricane shutters on their windows, and some locals groused about the change in the forecast.

"For five days, we were told it was going to be on the east coast, and then 24 hours before it hits, we're now told it's coming up the west coast," said Jeff Beerbohm, a 52-year-old entrepreneur in St. Petersburg. "As usual, the weatherman, I don't know why they're paid."

Tampa has not been struck by a major hurricane since 1921, when its population was about 10,000, National Hurricane Center spokesman Dennis Feltgen said. Now the area has around 3 million people.

Completely untrue. They were paying attention to the line, not the cone.

They were clearly within the "cone of destruction" nearly as long as we were. That they chose to make assumptions is not the fault of the weather man.
