When i remove the 5v terminal from the CN904 i noticed that the power supply does not trip but all other plugs and terminals are plugged in. Could there be a problem on this board and not the power supply

Sometimes it's a bad cable. Check voltages with things plugged in. Check at the PSU AND where it's plugged into another board. Obviously you should see the same voltages at both ends of the cable. If not - you've found a problem.
