How's the weather? Well the day started with a balmy 27 F. and snow, then more snow and then it got cold. Went from 27 to a current toasty 11 F. as we head for the single digits. However, not to let this crap bother me I grilled NY Strips outside today, so at least we ate well. :)

Cool trick... never heard of it... I thought it was going to be some nasty and humiliating joke of some kind... but you're incapable of that, aren't ya, Joey? :D
You should pay attention. There's value in everything I write -- even when I am joking/sarcastic.

Otherwise, what's the point?

Cool trick...
I was a regular fire bug when I was a kid. This was one of my favorites. Another was building structures with matchbooks -- then setting them alight.

I had mentioned before here some years back that I developed a method to 'detonate' grass clippings. Figured that one out when I was about 13.

If you jam a 9V battery into some loose steel wool, the steel wool will catch on fire.
But I have discovered that, while really neat, it is actually a pretty poor way to start a fire. I have done so successfully, but you have to use such fine tender that it is usually much easier to just build a one-match fire to begin with.

But I love taking a steel wool scouring pad and puffing it up to about the size of a basketball and setting it in the sink. Then, with the lights out, touching a battery to it. Very pretty.

image.jpg Latest update from Boston. Getting another 18 inches. This is the third snowiest winter in Boston IN HISTORY. The snowiest was in 1891. We're over 90 inches/ 228.6 cm.
This is my backyard, from my basement door.

My heart goes out to you people along the North Atlantic coast. This morning it was a balmy -4 and we hope to get up around Zero today. The good news is it is bright and sunny. :)

The clear / sunny/ cold / dry / drifting snow in the ohio / ohio valley area finally reminds me of weather back in Mn/NoDak.

Having this sunshine makes a winter day bearable. I realize I hate the gray dark days of this area way more than the cold on MN.

I hear that! :)

Generally by February NE Ohio and I am sure NW and W PA are pretty much tired of the cold and gray of winter. Cabin fever sets in. Generally by now people just get depressed. Today's sunshine despite single digits is a welcome sight.

Don't bet your life.

The last time I was at a Florida lake, at night, I aimed my flashlight along the bank and saw 20 pairs of eyes.
