Linus Torvalds has indefinitely postponed the merge window for version 6.8 of the Linux kernel after a winter storm knocked out power and internet near his work-from-home location in Oregon.

On Saturday Torvalds shared news that temperatures in his area near Portland fell to 14°F (-10°C) and that the power outage was widespread.

Even looking at Tesla's own "Cold Weather Best Practices" is like playing 4D chess if you need to take a trip in the dead of winter.

His charges today were about $100 and two hours of sitting with heaters on and the battery was only 2/3 charged.

Just up the road from me I480 goes over the Valleyview Bridge.

Today all lanes became black ice. They finally closed I480 and that bridge is now 6 lanes east and 6 lanes west. A little over 4500 feet I think and 240 feet down to the river valley.

Then we have I90 through Cleveland. I90 gets right down on the Lake Erie shore line. When we get arctic blast and the lake whips up it sprays I90 and it is collision city and they close I90.

It finally got cold here, single digit stuff with light snow. Glad I am retired!

Every year up here in the lovely Cleveland, Ohio SE suburbs it seems people need to relearn how to drive on snow and ice. Steep learning curve involved.
