Today's forecast calls for light, followed by darkness after sunset.
Actually, suddenly I find myself potentially under the gun. I'm reworking the landscaping in the back yard with plans to build a bigger pond for my fish. Now I'm looking at a potential job assignment in Wisconsin, which could start as early as next week. That means I have a whole lot of yard work to do in the next few days. And without assistance, that could be a task just a bit too hard for one person. Especially pulling out the old pond and digging in the new pond. I also have the health of fish to consider when making the change. It has to be fast and as non-stressing as possible.

I'm redoing my yard this year, but I'm hiring a sprinkler guy and a landscaper to finish it. I've done all the inside stuff myself. I installed all the lines in the front yard and just need to connect the back to the main valves lines are in the ground already.

Yesterday I took out the 50 gallon pond. This morning I dug and set the 104 gallon pond. The fish are loving it. I'm 250% spent! There's still a lot of dirt to be moved and stone to be set. I sure hope my wife has a sense of humor when she gets home tonight. I have just the rest of this day and all of tomorrow. Then it's driving for two days. THEN it's 10 hour days; six days a week. For three months.
How's the weather here? In the mid to upper 80's and it's humid. Unusual for a desert climate. Showered last night before bed and today it feels like I haven't showered in two weeks. AND I have a portable tent shade set up. It's a big one. That AND I have a blower (120 VAC) with misters atomizing water in the air stream. Feels good when you're directly in the stream but as soon as you're out - it's HOT!

So you have something to look forward to when the project is done?
My only standard of comparison is while I was a civilian working DoD assigned to the USS Eisenhower CVN 69 when we worked 12 on and 12 off 7 days a week while underway. My second cruise was an I.). (Indian Ocean) deployment during the Iran hostage situation. We passed 100 consecutive days at sea, spent 5 days in Singapore and went another 156 consecutive days at sea before returning home. Here is me during 1980. I am the only Mr. in the pictures.
On the bright side we few civilians were well compensated for the misery.Seriously, I hope the trip and work goes well and I am sure the fish are happy and thankful for all your efforts. Today it rained and then rained more as we head for a wet, very wet weekend.

My neighbor put in a pond and it has became the home to a leopard frog, the bl...dy thing keeps us awake all night with his croaking.
I wish I could find him as he would be 'Exported'.

Round here we need to watch for Magpie. They'll eat the fish if they see them. The pond has several overhanging stones in the water for the fish to take refuge under. Because this is a bigger pond we're going to put some water plants in so that there's even more cover.
Noticed the way you spelled the "B" word. Here in America it's no big deal, but I've heard to call someone a Bl**dy Fool is a pretty serious insult. Also heard that "Coca Cola" in one of the far east countries, not sure if Japan or China, it means "Ear of the Pig". I think. Anyway, interesting how different cultures developed their own ways.

The sun has set and I've cleaned up the yard. The pond work is not yet complete. But I suppose tomorrow I can snap a shot or two and post.A few pics would be in order ...
Big part of the reason for the task is because of a grass we call "Johnson" grass. As I understand it - it's an engineered grass and the stuff is as tenacious as a pit-bull dog with a bone. it had taken over the whole garden surrounding the pond, and was beginning to grow over into the pond. Something had to be done, and the fish had gotten as big as they were going to get in that tiny pond. So since the space was being torn apart it was time for a new pond. I have yet to stack the rocks and build the waterfall, but it's looking like that won't get done until September. Do you remember?

Pulled out a small retaining wall (two bricks high), repurposed those bricks into a planter bed for the wife, then pulled out the small pond and ripped out all the vegetation. Grass (Johnson grass) had grown into the bed and was taking EVERYthing over. Started Monday, finished tonight (Friday). You ain't kidding I busted my hump! At one point yesterday I think I was 250% spent. My arms are still aching, and doing laundry. Tomorrow it's a 13 hour drive.

Hey Tony, I don't know how far you are away from me but, I have some landscaping rocks I need to get rid of, I was going to sell them on KSL Classifieds, I'd give them to you if you wanted them. You would have to have some big guys to move them or one of those diggers with Jaws.

The bed has been lined with a weed barrier and filled with topsoil from the store - no Johnson grass. I hope to heck! She's begun planting in it. She's going with desert plants (low water). There's a drip irrigation pipe running the length, you can see a brick holding the pipe down near the bend at the front (but you can't see the pipe). The drip irrigation is hooked into the same system that waters the bed along the fence and the section next to the pond. Not sure how I'm going to handle that part.
