How to using LM393 to turned off the P MOSFET.

As it is, with R3 and R4 across the battery, it is constantly discharging 6mA from the battery.
If you increase them both by 10 times (or even more, keeping the ratios the same), the bleed current from the battery will go to 0.6mA, or less if they are bigger.
And, "This comparator self consumption is 1.5v." ?????
Please link to where you get this. It does not make much sense. It may be just the way you are phrasing it.

Oh, I see. That is not self consumption. It is the limit of the maximum voltage that the inputs will still work at, (supply voltage - 1.5V). If you look at the device internal circuit, you can see each input pin is 2 diode drops below the v+ pin. One diode + the transistor E to B diode junction.
2 diodes forward voltage is about 1.5V.

Hi Dendad and All,

I took the time for testing your circuit. it works but the threshold is around 4v instead of 5v to operate the comparator (3.8v min and 4.3v max to return).

based on this issue, Can you please advice for the bellow two questions:

1. why the comparator is outputting only when it gets to 4v instead of 5v? is it suppose to be like that?

2. Can you advice how to narrow the chattering? as now it is off when its between 3.8v to 4.3v+-, is it normal?

Thanks,

Barg
