This is my current H bridge circuit implemented using BJT. How should I go about so that when 2 switch are turned on at the same time , it will not result in a short circuit.

 

Use a single-pole, double-throw switch.

 

Use a changeover switch, centre to positive, ends to transistors.

 

You could also use a DPST or DPDT switch with centre off, this way you would have three positions/conditions.

In fact, you can just use the mechanical switch and dump the electronics.

I assumed the wire junctions in the bottom right were some kind of inputs (PWM?).
