How to make high current regulated power supply

I want to build a 15 Volt 9 Amp power supply using a center tap transformer , 2N3055, LM317.
The transformer output is 32 volt. I need the circuit diagram.

Hello,

You would better have a look at the LM338, wich is capable of 5 Amps on its own.
In the datasheet on page 10 there is a circuit on how to use 3 of them in parallel upto 15 Amps.

Or another variation on page 14. If you want to use the classic one-transistor current booster circuit with a 317, the power transistor needs to be PNP.

Here is a well-written treatment of the subject...

For the regulator, if you are set on using 2N3055s (NPN), use a LM337 (1.5A, TO220, negative, adjustable). See the data sheet.

This way, the collector of the 2N3055 can be connected to the minus terminal of the supply, which can be chassis ground if a floating supply is not needed.

Alternately you can use the common/cheap 2N3055 power NPN, along with a small PNP, such as the 2N2907, in a Sziklai pair, which together act as a high-gain, power PNP (in the Wiki article schematic the polarities need to be reversed with Q1 the 2N2907 and Q2 the 2N3055, as discussed in paragraph 3).
