Thanks.Buy a new socket you drill out the rivet the new socket comes with a screw to fasting it back on.
ThanksI’d try scratching the contact with a sharp tipped implement and maybe emery cloth; but it appears that the copper? coating has become tarnished. The bare metal may tarnish again quickly and require regular cleaning.
Remember to clean out any conductive debris that the scratching removes.
thanks. You can buy a replacement Edison Bulb Socket for literally a few US Dollars. I would just buy a socket rated higher wattage than the lamp and maybe consider a ceramic base. The tang in your socket has become annealed likely from heat. You can't fix it.

Glad to hear.thanks.
great!
I bought one and replaced and works well now.
Its true, hope I can use another few years.I noticed on the image of the failed socket that there was also an indication of arcing at the rivet providing the connection to the shell. So even if you had repaired the center connection a failure was stil waiting in the near future.
It was the socket shown in post #1.Was it like the one in post #8?? or different??
