Hi,
For the five data 0, 7, 8, 10, and 10 find the standard deviation.

I know the formula:
Z = (X-Mew)/Sigma
Sigma = Standard Deviation
Mew = Mean = 7
X= score?
Z= number of standard deviation=?

Can some body guide me how to find X & Z?

Look up the formula for standard deviation.
No matter how many times this advice is offered, the TS seems to be completely unable to follow it for some impenetrable reason. I don't think we are doing him any favors at all by continuing to hold his hand.

Hi,

Just to note, some people are a little lost and dont know who to ask or where to look.
Just sayin'.
Maybe some general advice for overall assistance and some kindness may help.

No problem with that. Some people establish a pattern, you may not be aware of it, but it is there none the less. For some people it is just easier to ask kind strangers than to put forth any effort at all.

Hi,

I guess i just cant help feeling sorry for people who have difficulty finding answers to their technical problems. Maybe i'll try explaining the situation you are indicating to the OP.
I can get bugged too sometimes though by people who dont explain what they want well enough which makes it hard to help them.

Hi,
I was not aware of the formula provided in the link. I thought there is only one formula. Advantage of forum is proper guidance where as google information may be deceiving. I am able to find out the difference between the two formulae. To use the one provided in post#3, all X values must be provided:
Sigma^2 = ((0-7)^2 + (7-7)^2 + (8-7)^2 + (10-7)^2+ (10-7)^2)/5 = 68/5
Therefore sigma= 3.7

Thanks all.

Hi,
I was not aware of the formula provided in the link.
And all I did to make you aware of it was to type YOUR thread title into Google. Why is it so unreasonable for YOU to do that?

And disadvantage of forum is that you never learn to think for yourself or to find information on your own.

Again its the same answer. i didnt know about the existance of other formula and i was curious to solve it with the formula which i knew.

I try to solve some questions everyday. Those which are difficult i have to post.

But you would have learned about the existence of the other formula on your own if you had just take the exact same phrase you used for your thread title and put it into a Google search. Wouldn't it seem reasonable to at least try that approach first?
