Hello all, I am working on an h-bridge circuit to drive a motor, however, I would like to be able to sense the voltage on my dc bus rail to detect an over-voltage and be able to report it back to my mcu and activate the braking resistor. Could I receive feedback as to how to accomplish voltage sensing?

That's how it is done.
For the current, you need a shunt, and a shunt amplifier such as AD8418

 

Yes use a voltage divider with a couple of resistors,..
as for the current you need a low resistance in series with the motor low side, and monitor the voltage across it..or a shunt monitor.
