High speed switch diode

question. getting back into elc as hobbyist...

I was testing some Zener diodes on a power rail to see where they knee at. In the box I found some high speed switching didoes, how are they used? I purchase these a long time ago for some project. They look physically similar, but behave more like a pass, no-pass diode.
High freq applications like switching power supply's?
