Not necessarily, but a better form of construction, yes. Remember we are delivering a very short pulse - fusing is about how much heat is generated over how long - Watts x seconds. 20awg will fuse at approx 58A (for >10s in free air), but 186A for 1s and 882A for 32mS. So clearly its somewhere between the latter for your coil. Kinks and sharp bends where cross-sectional area is compromised will have significantly reduced ampacity. The other issue is voltage between turns and the insulation effectiveness. If your coil was neatly wound on a 3D-printed former like below, 16 turns across 16 layers, 256 turns total, then the voltage between turns vertically is approx 1.5v and between layers horizontally is maximum 48v. The insulation will easily cope with that if not damaged.

Better that you learn correct electronic symbols and to draw schematics. Much easier to communicate with, more easily translates to a physical wiring diagram, and, when things don't work, makes it easier to work out where you've gone wrong!
Wow obviously some one been involved in electronics most of their life. See i work as an IT Technician at a University. Had to do an induction for new staters. ( 50-60 yr olds cleaning staff. No clue in IT. I go to their terms. How do you iron a shirt, class a mouse as an iron, move one end then what you do, you move back. Its was a wow from them. Next was mouse buttons, left click you want the iron to press steam. that giving a function. When double click on right mouse, as an iron, it gives you options, like turning a dial on the iron. GET IT! IM A NOOB! Learn symbols and such? Serious approach to a 56 yr old noob? WOW! We not all as educated as you in electronic terms. Hence clarify in the way a a person not yet understands terminology. How did you start out? Come to me with magic. You see a card you sign the card see the card go in middle of the pack but ends on top. does 2 other times, last time you hunt for the card but end in 1stmouth. LOL be total opposite how did you do this or that. serious Dont be a smart ass from your point of view ok, asking a question. As thought this was a help forum? Can post up a few renditions 1 has created, But needing a drawing to say jump a 2 gramme weight 2-3 gramme weight a few inches. please..

Yes. All my life, from 7 to 66, and not one day has passed that I didn't learn something new. 12y ago I had a serious accident that left me paralysed from shoulders down. Boy, was that a learning experience. I had to learn how to do stuff with no hand function and minimal arm movement. Unlike 90% of quads sitting in front of the TV all day wasn't an option for me. But I can operate a computer, design & build stuff, the latter takes me a lot longer but I get there. But I found a new purpose, a new thing to learn; how to teach. Now I teach electronics, programming and mechanics to Masters students, and electronics to an Adult evening class at a local school - the youngest on the course is one of the lab techs at the school, he's in his 40s and the eldest is over 80. A few weeks ago they were all noobs like you, now they draw circuits like a pro & have an understanding of why what they build does what it does. So I make no apology for what I said. You came here for help, as many do, so help yourself to be better...

Welcome to AAC. Oh where to start. An interesting building technique . what is all that 'glue'?

Do you have a circuit diagram or a schematic? And some details of your DIY coil. Without more info its hard to advise. What's the end goal - some sort of 'magic trick'?
It's amazing how well hot glue resists current flow. It works as a great insulator, unless if cracks, which it can. Then that leaves paths for moisture which means paths for current flow and shock hazard.
I've used it for temporary insulation but have to watch for cracks with higher voltages like 120vac.

Irving my hats off to you, sorry to hear. Total understand about the learning side. LOL many a friend said i could writ a book about my life lol. As do teaching inductions for new starter, you cannot look at it at your level, but to the students level of limited knowledge, and translate it to a way they can understand.

Irving my hats off to you, sorry to hear. Total understand about the learning side. LOL many a friend said i could write a book about my life lol. As do teaching inductions for new starters, personally i cannot look at it at my level, but to the students level with limited knowledge, and translate it to a way they can understand, how the University operates, IT wise, as in the latter. OK lol went on a tangent.
It is a magic effect yes. Had seen an effect now discontinued back in the 80`s. Their version could not be examined, taken me 5 mths to replicate in total different manor, that it could be inspected, again using a coil, but not the power i now need. In the photo, its not mine, so would guess all the glue was to keep wires in place i would suspect.
Reading on whats said guess flash circuit, or inductor. The video link of the penny, is sort what is looking at, The gent replied that, parts unable to get or not identified now, but to use a flash circuit. Think understanding a little on the flash circuit, the energy needs to charge the capacitor, then release that energy. Regards

Relative to the value of schematic drawings: About 15 years ago I was in Dong -Guang city, working with our Techs on installing a crash test sled. I had to work with the local electricians who did not understand any english, and I understood none of that Chinese dialect at all. So I pulled out the electrical drawings and we both were able to communicate very well. So you see that the circuit drawing is the better way to communicate the needed information. Much better than a wire map drawing with pictures.

Fair doo`s, but dont have a clue on what circuit t use, hence asking help, as per videos. Just picked up a couple old disposable cameras for nowt, then figuring out to wire them.

Lol seriously, 1 is a noob ok, just looking at a small high current/voltage amp whatever, to a coil, gauge, winds, un sure. Posted video`s etc. Looking at camera flash, needing to charge prior using, little bit of a downfall. Appreciated ..
