Hello guys,
I need some help please.

Im trying to build my own IR light source to add to my nightshot camcorder.

I want buy a :

1) 5 Watt Infrared IR LED Night vision camera Flashlight

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=250326011738

but the guy that sell it , I think does not know anything about it.

My guess is that to make the 5 watt IR led work (not to heat too much and blow up), I need two

5 Watt LED Pulse Driver

http://cgi.ebay.com/5-Watt-LED-Puls...205|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318#ebayphotohosting

What I do not understand is :

1) how do I connect two 5 Watt LED Pulse Driver to one 5 Watt Infrared IR LED Night vision ?

My thinking is to connect :

A) Power Source that has + and - to B) one 5 watt led pulse drive , connecting it to the + and - of the power source. Then connect to the 5 watt led pulse drive B) another C) 5 watt led pulse drive , connecting + with + and - with - . Then connect the D) 5 watt infrared IR led night vision to the C) 5 watt led pulse drive, connecting + with + and - with - .
Am I correct ?

2) Which is the power source that I should use in Voltage ? ( how many AA batteries I should use and should I use a resistor ?)

For the question 2) , these are the specs of the :

A) 5 Watt led puls drive :

Frequency: 30KHz
Type: Pulse Driver
Operating voltage: 5V-8V
Current(peak): 950mA
LED support: Blue/White/Green/IR
(note: it can drive a 3W IR LED in full power. You need two for a 5W IR LED)

and of the

B) 5 watt infrared led :

Specifications
Wavelength: 850nm
Vf: 1.5V~1.6V
If: 2500 mA+
Dimension
Backplate(W): 19.9mm

Can u please help me ?
Thank you
Marco

I wouldn't buy a no-name-brand LED that has no datasheet and no instructions.
It is not 5W, it is "up to" 5W. Do you want a continuous light or a flickering light?
Do you want the LED to last longer than a few minutes?

I would like to have a continous light that would last a while.
Do u have any advice in what could I buy ?
I would prefer if it is something small and easy to carry.
Thanks
Marco

Never seen high power IR LEDs. Will have to look and see if this is for real. I always figured they kept the power output low, since there isn't a huge demand, and potential for injury and liability. I would think 5 watts if infrared at close range would cause some serious eye damage, quickly.

Thank you.

Coming back to my initial question:

how do I make the circuit of:

5 watt led
+
two led pulse drivers ( will the ir light blink ?)
+
Power source ( which power source do I need to use?)

You can see the questions in the previous reply.

Thank you

The instructions for the LED and pulser are a poor translation (?).
So who knows???????

No Name-brand.
No datasheet.
No info.
