Help with project on Quadrature Amplitude Modulation

Well, its Finals Week and I have a project due in my Intro to Communications Systems class on Quadrature Amplitude Modulation. What I need to do is, according to the professor is, "do a brief theoretical development and/or MATLAB example(s)."

So I was wondering how to do an example of this in Matlab. Any resources would be big help to on how to simulate this.
