Hello, I am looking for for help with a dehumidifier project. I currently have a small space that is set up with a dehumidifier and a humidity controller. The controller turns on and off the dehumidifier based on a set range. The issue, however is that the dehumidifier has an on/off button so even when the controller sends 120 volts, the dehumidifier still needs someone to press the button to turn it on.
I want to bypass the on/off switch on the dehumidifier so that when it is plugged in, it immediatly turns on without having to press a button on it.
The dehumidifier is a very small unit and I have outfitted a hose so I do not have to empty the resevoir. It doesn't have any other functions other than run and shutoff if full (if the reservoir were to fill completely)
I was hoping it would be an easy fix but I suspect that the on/off switch only sends a small signal to a relay and that is out of my comfort zone without professional assistance.
Here is a picture of the dehumidifier (it is some off brand unit but it should work for the small space it runs in)
