Help in obtaining new garage door opener relay

Hello, Folks:

I am working on a garage door opener that is old. I mean, really old. It's at least 35 years old but still works great on the original motor. Before anyone jumps on me for not getting new door, as with many of you, I am a tinkerer. :) That said:

The symptoms of the garage door opener problem is that it sporadically opens and closes the door (no remote; just a wall mounted button.) I opened her up and did some troubleshooting and it seems like the relay was sticking. So I cleaned up both sides of the contacts with some 2000 grit sandpaper and it seems to be working great for the moment. Perhaps this will be the end of the story... This is actually for a friend so I will get feedback of how long this will last and will update this post.

In the meantime, I would like to see if I can get a relay replacement. But this thing is so old, it doesn't even have a model number sticker! It is from "Overhead Door" and I am trying to contact them for a replacement, but I know they will try to talk me into a new garage door opener as the opener pre-dates most of the kiddos that work there.

I've taken pics of it and will try to post it later (it's on my iPhone). The relay says this: "Type 48 AEMCO 24VAC Intermittent". There are five leads going into the relay, along with a black and white wire soldered (along with a jumper wire). I am wondering if this is a mechanical generic relay and if so if anyone knows what type and where I can get it. Mounting won't be an issue as I am creative, but I need help in identifying and finding a replacement switch.

I uploaded two images; can't seem to upload the most important pic...will keep trying...

You need to find what sets of contacts it has, otherwise get a 24vAc relay with two sets of changeover contacts DPDT.

...I'm actually helping a friend with this project who is about 220 miles away. I'll order the part and will come back in 5-7 weeks to install. I hope you or someone is around to help! Or you can tell me how to wire it now based on my relay and the one I'm about to buy.

Try to find what make model the garage door opener is, otherwise its tracing the contacts on the relay, chances are its a dual changeover type.

Do NOT disconnect the wires to the old relay until you have identified and noted which wire goes where. As DD says, it's a matter of tracing the contacts (i.e. deciding which contacts on the existing relay are the Commons, the NC and the NO ones).
