F is generally used for a Fuse. Unless that is for the one adjacent, is there a designation label?
OK I see that it is identified by RL in another link, so it most likely is a relay, and also looks like one.

View attachment 197638can somewone Please tell ne what is this black thing!
The fuse is that glass object partly visible above the black block. The photo is a very poor image of an object to be identified, taken from the totally wrong angle. Is this a trick question?Give us a picture taken at an angle such that the big transformer is in the rear, and that black cube is showing the face that is presently facing the left in this photo. Make sure that it sows most of the left side.

This looks like a power board from a CD player or something similar. This is likely the power relay. The small transformer to the right of the circled part (t502?) is probably the standby transformer with the larger one further on the right the main supply transformer. Q501 is likely the switch for the relay.

The designation on the board does appear to start with RL5, so that black block is indeed probably a relay. And the camera angle puts a solid reflection on the side of the block, hiding any lettering or graphicks that may be there. Is this a trick question??

The other clue is the vent pip on the top, this offers the option of venting the relay, this tends to reduce failure due to relay contacts switching and generating an arc causing vapor, ozone, carbon and other contaminants.
The 'pip' is usually removed after board flux removal.
But not removed in dangerous vapor applications.

The big transformer is far to large for a CD or DVD player, more the size for a full stereo receiver or a VCR.
