does any of you know tina software?

my classmate showed me tina and it seemed much easier to use, because you can do programming in different ways such as through flow charts, languages, etc

and if i understood it correctly, it comes also w/ a compiler and a debugger.

is it recommended for beginners?

Tina TI will help you design external components to your system, but I wouldn't suggest it for the programming environment.

Both MikroC and BoostC are very generous with their free versions, and debug easily. Use those for compilers, and Tina TI can still simulate the behavior of the .asm listing the comipiler creates (if the chip model is supported).

On the Microchip website. They have a demo board that comes with a PicKit3 and these lessons.

Yes, but it is a 3.3v processor, so your peripherals should be 3.3v compatible, or do a bit of level switching. 3.3v is where many uCs are heading, some going to 2.5v.

Whats the major difference bet microchip's PICkit and PICdem(demo board)? Does the PICkit includes sufficient peripherals for simulation? cause the demo board (picdem 2) seems a lot more expensive than pickit3.

A PICKIT 3 is a genneral programmer/debugger unit. The Picdem is a demoboard. And you will need a programmer like PICKIT 3 to program the board. If you are new to PICs. Pick up the PICKIT 3 debug express bundle. That is a PICKIT 3 and a demoboard. You can use the demo board until it fails or wear out. Then you can move on to build your own boards

Many 3.3V regulators are available now, check your local distributor for a 6 or 12V -> 3.3V regulator.
