i have a heat gun which glows at 750°F and really bright at 1000°F.

now the aoyue 968 heat gun does not stay glowing. it fades in and out at 400°C. is this right? or is the heating element bad. making a video.

That's completely normal. It is regulating the air temperature. To do that it blows air over the element which heats up slowly. The element glows when hot and when the air reaches the right temperature it decreases the temperature of the element and then increases it and then decreases it... and so on... to regulate the temperature. Mine does the same.

Probably because it's not temperature regulated. It just says "half power" and it hopes that is a certain temperature.
