You'd need fairly expensive HPLC or GC equipment to dispense with tasting. Human senses are pretty good at such things!

I was working at an environmental lab about 10 years ago. They hired a chemist and come to find out he was from Franklin Co. just south of here. That Co. has quite a reputation here abouts. Any how he could run a still long before high school.

He gave me some of his moonshine. It smelled wonderful.....and was very smooth. You could dip your finger in it....and just coat your lips.........and your lips would be numb shortly.
