Hardwire

Is it possible to "hardwire" a dryer that the faceplate doesn't work, but be able to bypass that and wire directly to the plug. So that whatever the last setting it was on will be the setting from here on our? Is that possible?

If that were done I would guess that in a fairly short while it will be left on and overheat and start a fire. But it probably can be done. WITH the risk of starting a fire.

Depends on why the "faceplate" isn't working. In order for your bypass to result in the last setting being used, the circuitry that establishes what that setting is has to be intact and functional. What is it you are wiring directly to the plug? How is that going to utilize what the last faceplate setting was?

What makes you think that the problem is limited to the faceplate controls to begin with?

We need to know the make and model of the dryer.
It's a Frigidaire Affinity. I don't have the model # unfortunately. I want to be able to wire the first set of wires which was behind the faceplate to the main plug wire so that all I would need to do is plug it in and will start the dryer with no face plate..if possible.

OK, and as I see the photos, this is not an electric blow-dryer. And so that "faceplate" is actually the whole control panel of an electric dryer. That changes everything!!!
CAUTION: the electric heater in an electric clothes dryer depends on adequate air flow to prevent overheating. It is quite capable of igniting any combustible materials in the area if adequate airflow is not present.

First, what is totally impossible is to retain the control functions while bypassing all of the controls. THAT SHOULD BE OBVIOUS!!

"Faceplate" is totally not the right term to describe the control section of an electric dryer. And if the controls are all bypassed then they can not have any effect. If there is a failure in the electrical control system, it should be possible to diagnose and suggest a repair. I have already repaired a refrigerator for a missionary in Thailand over the internet without leaving my home halfway around the world. So a remote diagnosis and fix can be possible.

So a question for the thread starter: What is your technical capability?? Can you read and interpret a schematic circuit diagram? Do you have access to a multi-meter??

You told us all your lack of electrical knowledge by asking such a question. The answer is a definite NO! If you mess with it like that, you will destroy it and may even harm yourself. If you really need it repaired, call a legitimate repair service.

Running the motor with no control could work, but powering the electric heater with no control will start a fire eventually. That is totally certain. It may take a while, but it will happen.
So please tell us what the complaint is???

And as for getting a repair person able to fix it? In some parts of the world that simply will not be possible. In many areas there is no such service available.
