I am designing a Ham Beacon in the 50-51MHz range. I was considering using a BA1404 for the initial transmitter circuit. Will the BA1404 operate at this frequency by just changing the Oscillator values between pins 9 & 10? I plan on adding an amplifier of 10 watts to this circuit and controlling it with Arduino automatically.

 

You may need to use a crystal oscillator or an LC tank circuit carefully tuned to your frequency.

 

Creating a LEGAL beacon transmitter requires quite a lot of accuracy and stability, both short term and long term. So a carefully optimized crystal oscillator is the best choice.
I am not at all familiar with a BA1404 , I do not recognize it as an IC device, so I have no clue at all. Certainly whatever beacon device will need to have it's accuracy and stability verified. Do you have the specifications of the BA1404 that you could post here so that those able to answer can see what the specifications are? That will greatly reduce the effort towards a good answer.
