At one time I investigated using a laser to trim branches up in a tall tree! Then I realized that if the beam could burn off a branch in a reasonable time it could damage an airplane quite rapidly. That ended the investigation before any damage was done.
Again echoing the chamber, be careful and get some laser safety glasses. You'll find them listed with a rating called OD or optical density. I would absolutely look for a pair with at least OD4 in the 532 wavelength for the green laser. https://www.laserlands.net/protecti...ser-protective-goggles-safety-glasses-ce.html is a set that will work. These are available on amazon as well but I don't like to put amazon links on here. 25$ spent now is better than permanently seeing a dead spot in your vision.

Highly recommend a constant current source for the laser generator and a good heat sink. There are a number of led driver boards on amazon with adjustable current outputs that would fit the bill for what you're working on.
While not quite on target this is somewhat humorous. Must be about 25 years ago I designed an autoclave control panel. Below is one of several.
While everything runs under computer control I left manual control just in case. The panel meters are Omega DP41 and using a red LED display. We had a need to measure "bounce" of an object and added a Micro Epsilon LASER system. All control rod technicians were issued glasses for the red LASER. The panel meters afford the technicians, at a glance. several key operating parameters is they are away from the computer screens in the control room. Unfortunately when the red LASER safety glasses are put on all six displays appear as blank. Fortunately these meters (process controllers) allow a user to select Green verse Red display. I caught a break, I simply went in and changed the programming for the displays. It was pretty humorous as no glasses things were fine, put on glasses and the displays disappear.
