Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good solid book for self study of electronics? I'm taking an electronics course in college and have found the required text to be rather difficult to follow. I'd love to have a good book as a supplement. I like the e-book here but I would really like something that I can hold in my hands and read. I'm very eager to learn, but as I said, I don't feel my current book is that great.

I've had a few semesters of calculus, so math shouldn't be a problem. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've been eying these two books:

http://www.amazon.com/Art-Electronics-Paul-Horowitz/dp/0521370957/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

http://www.amazon.com/Electronics-S...Guides/dp/0470289619/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Can anyone make any recommendations?

Thanks

I recommend you supplement your book studies with actual lab experience. There can be a surprising gulf between book learning and really being able to do things in practice. I recommend you work through the experiments here -- there's lots of stuff and it shouldn't be too demanding on the budget.

You really can't go wrong by having Art of Electronics on your shelf, though if you are just starting out, you may want one of the other recommendations in addition. Also be sure to get the student workbook for AoE.

Maybe India Institute of Technology? Damn good school, India's equivalent to Ivy League. Some of the best chemist I have ever known came from that school. Absolutely brilliant.

Wow didn't realize that was my first post. Guess I lurk a bit :p
