Glad I'm not a passenger

I'm assuming that this is a staged joke photo. Not only does ALL of the lifting force from the wing get transmitted to the fuselage through the strut, but considerable more than that. The connection at the wing root is pinned and the wing can rotate up and down, Since more lift is generated outboard of the strut attachment point then inboard of it, the wing at the root is actually pushing down on the fuselage so as to put the relatively weak structure around the doors and windows into compression.

So I sure don't want to fly with a damaged strut -- then again, I would have said the same thing about a horizontal stabilizer that was bent from striking the ground, and I went and did that.

Or perhaps it's just a temporary fix to prevent the wing from collapsing while the thing was being moved around for repairs?

Doubtful. The wing isn't that heavy (and they almost certainly would have pulled the fuel early on). Plus, it looks to me like there's some slack in most of those bindings.

KS cops ‘chased’ elderly man for driving 3 mph over limit then tased him, lawsuit says
Two Chanute police officers pulled their guns on Sigg, according to the lawsuit. Looking “quizzically” at them, he raised his hands, which can be seen in a screenshot of body-camera footage of the incident.

“Get on the f—ing ground,” a now-former deputy with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office yelled, according to the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District of Kansas.

Without warning, the deputy used a Taser on Sigg — even though the manufacturer of the TASER X2 warns about using it “on the elderly,” his lawyer wrote. Sigg dropped “like a rock,” his attorney said, and cut his head.

Here in Italy now in case of problems they call for reinforcements and they proceed the old-fashioned way. Sometimes you even end up in the hospital if you go ahead with the struggle... now, however, even here some police forces are starting to use the taser. Honestly, I'm very worried because I think it requires more training than throwing a few punches or kicks.
by the way, an Italian driver must not exceed 45kmh otherwise the license will be withdrawn. Below this threshold there is a fine.

Hi,

So i guess nobody in Italy is allowed to drive on the autostrade of Italy which is also in Italy and does not allow cars that can not go faster than 80kmh  :)

I'm guessing that what he meant was you lose your license if you are caught at more than 45 km/h over the speed limit.
" I can guess, too. But he needs to make his reasoning clear..."
just kidding :)

Yeah something like that. It's funny how people assume other people know exactly what they are talking about without actually saying it. I hear this a lot.
Sometimes they will even talk about people we dont even know. "Yeah yesterday Barney said that it was going to snow tomorrow" ... who the heck is Barney, i dont know any Barney. They may even go on to talk extensively about what this person did all the while we have no idea who it is. Or, talk about "John" when there are several different people who both parties know well named John yet no specific one of them is ever mentioned.
I think this is suggestive of a sort of minor Asperger's. It's amazing how much i hear this happen though. I also wonder if it could be a sign of the way ego works, where they have a little too much so they dont quickly understand the subject from the point of view of the person they are talking to. If their interest is so much in themselves, they may not immediately get a well enough idea how the other person interprets their message ... they hardly think in those terms.

I've read about the autobahn in Germany too which has incredible speed limits, if any at some places.
There are some very strange rules though in some countries. If you are not going the 'suggested' speed in certain places it may void your car insurance.

Get on the ground? Just how the heck do they think I'll be able to get back up without 2 or 3 guys helping lift me back up!

Atlanta... Phtttttt... That and quite a few other reasons are why Buckhead wants to secede from Atlanta. Great place, too many lousy people... Apparently quite a few folks agree since most of the new people moving into our area (for quite a long time now) have finally retired and got the hell outta Atlanta and moved here.

The laws cause the perpetrators to do break the law again and again.
Not around here, once you get over 80mph the fines increase exponentially. @ 90mph it is 900USD and double that for a road construction or emergency zone and requires a mandatory court appearance plus court costs in addition to the fine. Plus, points against your license and I think over 100mph you lose your license plus more than double the 900USD with even higher fines increasing horribly for anything over that. Your car can be impounded for a lengthy span or until you regain your license. The cost of that is in addition to the fine and court costs. They can also tack on Excessive Speed and Reckless Driving charges on top of the speeding. I-95 in Georgia has several counties that depend on it for the majority of their county revenue and even God can't help you if they find any drugs or excessive cash on board. That may result in forfeiture and our counties deputies LOVE driving their new Hell Cats and Demons from forfeitures.

The fine for speeding allows wealthy drivers to speed.

Hi,

In our state NJ (and other US states too i think) we use the point system. If you speed i think you get 4 points. If you accumulate 12 points (our state) you lose your license for three months. It's not easy dealing with that. I ended up in this situation for some very minor speeding tickets yet still lost it for 3 months. I was working for Singer Kearfott up in Little Falls NJ and i lived in Central NJ so i had to travel something like 50 miles to get to work each day and then 50 miles back. I had to travel one town over just to catch two busses to get there and then the same thing back. It's not easy dealing with that on a day to day basis. The cost was secondary, but i think it went up since then which was many years ago.

I agree that some laws are not for the very very wealthy. Even if they did something wrong they can delay repercussions indefinitely.
What is even more crazy is the laws for the lawmakers. In effect they are not subject to many of the laws they are even supposed to be subject to because nobody ever does anything about it, including the other lawmakers.

LOL, back in the 70's in Alabama it was reported on the radio and TV that the State Patrol was trying to stop a Cadillac with blacked out windows traveling @ 100mph southbound on I-65 leaving Birmingham. It got to be a high speed OJ show with every county adding their patrol cars to the entourage chasing the Cadillac southbound. This was when the speed limit was still 55mph and before spike strips, PIT maneuvers, and cell phones were invented. It went on for a couple of hours until it rolled to a stop in front of the Alabama Statehouse in Montgomery and a guy exited the back hollering that he was a State Representative and late for his lower house session. I swear you could hear over a hundred officers slapping their forehead and going DUH! Couldn't arrest him because he was immune!
