I have a work truck with a PA system. Sometimes I work with a crew and it would be a blast to have sound effects as I arrive at various work sites.
What I would like to do is play MP3 or WAV sound effect files through my PA system.
My speaker is 12watt, 8 ohm.

I just have no idea how to get the sound effects from a WAV or MP3 file "conveniently (like with a push button?) from the file to the speaker.

A crude way to do it might be to use some sort of MP3 player (even my phone) and directly plug the jack from the speaker directly into the phone jack?. But I don't know if the speaker amplifies the sound or if the phone actually does the amplification.

And ideally, Id like to have various sounds, all of which would instantly play at the touch of a button (ideally).

Would something like this be useful for this?

Thanks for any suggestions.

If your existing mobile PA system has an external input connection that will be the way to go. Some mobile PA amplifiers have an input so that messages from a 2-way radio can be played thru the amplifier. That was common in the first years when CB was new. Back about 1965to 1970.. OR, connect the external (AUX) input on the PA amp to the headphone output of an MP3 pocket player. Then you just need a standard cable, nothing to build.
