The "Home" site for this forum has this recent, for hire(?) article: https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/news/visa-rejections-continue-to-rise-for-tech-industry-workers/

When others have asked, "How can I publish an article," the response has been to the effect of, "Submit your article, and if it meets our standards, it will be published."

Does the above article meet the standards of AAC? What are the standards?
Funny thing is, we'd be banned for attempting to discuss the article.

I'll let the editorial team respond if and when they have time, but if you are interested in writing, please visit

We have a comment section in the article if you are feel the need to respond.

Selfishly, and most importantly - I'm in the H1-B lottery this year. Cross your fingers for me, I'd love to be able to visit my colleagues in the US :)

You don't need to apply for a work visa for that, those are not easy to get ... you could apply for a tourist visa instead and have as many beers as you want with your pals...
This use to work, even temporary business visas for meetings. Unfortunately for the past few years officers at Customs have said that it's necessary that I have a proper Business Visa, and have turned me back.

That happened to me going to Canada in the 80's and late 1990's. The first time was precipitated by discovery of some 2x2 Kodachrome (Genigraphic) slides in my briefcase. My host intervened, and I was able to talk as scheduled. Honorariums weren't much. The second time we were visiting Etobicoke/Toronto in anticipation of buying a >$1 million instrument. The immigration agent was more understanding when it became clear we were buying, not selling.

Immigration rules cut both ways.
