The super-heterodyne receiver has an IF of 470 kHz for AM and is tuned between the following frequency range 500 kHz – 1500 kHz.
· What would be the range of frequencies must the Local Oscillator cover.
· what would be an acceptable bandwidth for the IF amplifiers.
What would the effect be on a selected signal, if the bandwidth were twice as large as necessary?

Is this question related to school work?

If so, then let me know and I will move it to the "Homework" section where it belongs.

As I recall, 10.7 MHz is the IF associated with FM. Your original post indicated that your question was about AM. If AM is the subject, then beenthere is correct. The AM IF frequency is most often 455 KHz.

One problem with the specs given is that no figure for station bandwidth is given. The IF response is necessarily tailored to the signal bandwidth.

Bertus' link give the information necessary to figure the local oscillator frequency.
