The Colt Army 1860 .44 cal cap and ball pistol had a "Stock" option. Wasn't very popular as it brought the pistol closer to the face and eyes back when almost no one wore glasses and Black Powder generates lots of sparks and smoke when fired from the small gap between the revolving cylinder and barrel as well as the end of the barrel. Most stocks got thrown away which is why it is almost impossible to find an original one. This stock is a reproduction, the pistol is original.

Seemed like a good idea but didn't work very well in practice and the idea hasn't improved much in the last couple centries as it made very little improvement in hitting the intended target. They also make a Drum Magazine for the Beretta as well as a full auto toggle device. Kinda goes along with General Patton's theory of don't waste time aiming, just pour the lead out in the right direction and it will hit something. That idea of "spray and pray" in combat hasn't held up very well either...

Of course no one ever misses in the movies unless your watching old A Team reruns. They never managed to shoot anyone it seems.
