Co-Incidentally, just before this happened I was watching a documentary how they built this city on sand , 4 km to drill down for bedrock!, and all the artificial islands out in the sea.
Incredible engineering.
Including the water powered air conditioning that has to regulate down the permanent 40°C temperature.

Ironic that the building was called Torch Tower (aka Marina Torch). Was someone was predicting/planning/encouraging an event? If so, the irony is lost.

Also, kudos to the Security staff for carrying out their jobs in the face of danger. No fatalities.

Off the subject of your post, but this is an example of one of those sites that take a long time for the page to load and it's also non-responsive.

No sprinkler system???
That would make one incredible fire if the whole thing lit up!
I'm talking, "visible from orbit".

I don't know but they do have a Vast amount of water pumped in stages up to each group of floors at a time for the A/C, I assume they are using heat exchanger principle.

I just mentioned that there was a huge source of water available on each floor to be tapped. Considering the technology that went in that area, I am sure it could be considered?

Air conditioning water has corrosion inhibitors in it, but I'm sure a person would rather have his corrosion inhibited than burn to death. :D
