Hi All,
Having read through various posts, I can see that NordicTrack treadmills have often been a topic on here - especially the control boards which seem to have a habit of failing -
The components are covered by a 2 year replacement warranty and my lightly used machine (2.5 years old, but hardly used for 12 months due to injury) began exhibiting issues where the motor would slow to a crawl mid workout (giving out a blink code - single blink - fold back mode) - Temperature readings of the heart sink showed this happened after about 69 degrees centigrade, though I have seen upwards of 80 degrees C
I contacted iFit/NordicTrack who have offered to send a new motor, but recommended changing the board, and the same day the board went bang with a fire from one of the resistors (R17) and a component next to it -
NordicTrack will not provide a replacement board for free as I am out of 2 year warranty - Now, warranty does not exempt iFit from supplying something which is of suitable quality - in the UK, the consumer act 2015 provides some form of protection for consumers - a 1750 Commercial treadmill should be expected to last more than 2.5 years. - so I have started court proceedings in the small claims court.
I may need to prove that the defect must have been present when I bought the treadmill - On the basis of the burnt out board, what would cause this burn out? defective components? under rated components? too much current
I am just trying to get some education and explanation as to what has happened to my equipment - If it has caught fire, should these be recalled for safety issue?
Photo 1 shows the burn
Photo 2 shows a stock image - (not my board)
Any thoughts welcome.
