A capacitor is connected across the load resistor in rectifier circuits in order to:
(a) To have an output voltage in one direction (b) Reduce the ripple voltage (c) Increase the ripple voltage (d) None of above

On way to go about is to look at each proposed answer and see if you can describe either why it might be true or why it can't be true.
