Extractor fan wiring diagram help

Hi,

I am trying to wire an extractor fan. I cant read circuits and have a fault at the moment where once the fan is on, it stays on. But if I switch it off then back on, it kind of half boots up and spins verry slowly. But if I turn it off and on a few times it eventually comes on.

Here is the wiring diagram:

I want the fan on max setting all the time as per diagram 16.

So from the plug I have the neutral going to neutral then the live is split using a connector to run to L and LT. I have no switches so the only switch im using is the one from the wall socket.

Does it need a switch to work?

If so why?

How do I wire it so it just comes on full pelt when it gets power from the wall?

Thanks in advance

What's an extractor fan? The behavior you are describing is very odd for a fan. I'm suspecting a wiring problem somewhere.

You know like you have in bathrooms and cooker hoods.

The different diagrams are for what speed you want the fan to run.

I thing I have caused the wiring problem! By just splitting the live to L and LT.

Does the circuit need two independent switches im wondering. But why. If the live is hooked to both terminals it should just be like the switches are on.

Plus it makes no sense because if i just wire live and neutral, as if the switch to LT were in the open position. The fan does not work at all.
