Extension of LAN (ethernet) using 2 VDSL modems

I have 2 VDSL modems. I want to extend my LAN over 2 wire (using RJ 11). I tried configuring both the modems as bridge but I fail to get connectivity b/w the 2 ends. Is there any difference in configuration at both the ends? pls help..
