In a video posted to the Buffalo Bills Twitter on Friday, former Bills running back Thurman Thomas and his wife Patti surprised Withey with the tickets.

"We love you. We know what you did on Christmas Eve was very heroic and you are our hero, and the Bills and Highmark want to present you with these tickets to go watch the Super Bowl," Thomas told Withey while presenting him with the tickets.

Junior high school on remote Japan island holds graduation ceremony for only student
It's not just remote islands that step up. Over the years I've known several people right here in Colorado that were their school's sole graduating senior and quite a few that were one of only two or three. It's always been interesting to talk to them about what it was like and they all commented on how the community really went out of it's way to make them feel like they weren't missing out on the key things. In most of these places they have a K-12 school with total enrollments of a dozen or so. One gal, who was the sole 12th grader with no 11th or 10th graders at all, said her school still had a prom for her. It was open to anyone and all of the middle school kids attended and many of the adults from the area came, too. She also had friends she knew from other things that came. In many ways it wasn't like any prom you would see elsewhere, but it wasn't a community dance that doubles as a prom, either. She said that they way they did it made it really clear that it was HER prom night and that she will cherish those memories forever.

Woman who survived Pennsylvania factory explosion said falling into vat of liquid chocolate saved her life

Borges, who'd been on a ladder, was thrown to the ground. She heard screaming. There was fire everywhere, and the flames quickly overtook her. "I asked God why he was giving me such a horrible death," she said. "I asked him to save me, that I didn't want to die in the fire."

She began to run. That's when the floor gave way, and she could feel herself falling — into a long, horizontal tank of chocolate in the factory's basement. At 4 feet, 10 inches tall, Borges landed on her feet in chest-high liquid.
...

Borges, who came to the United States 31 years ago from Puebla state in south-central Mexico, has worked at Palmer for four years. She said she's seeking accountability.

"I wanted to speak so that this will be prevented in the future," she said. "For my colleague Judy, I want there to be justice."
Sweet salvation!

That nice lady is an angel.
I like that the Portland Police are willing to recognize the value of the service being provided and will recommend that victims utilize them.

Now if they could work out arrangements to leverage the group's ability to locate stolen vehicles into the police's ability to apprehend the thieves.

They are trying but the "Law and Order" team is mainly dysfunctional (catch and release for just about anything short of murder) in Portland and this state in general.

A man accused of trying to rob a Cassopolis gas station while armed with a box cutter in July faces several charges, while the beer-toting customer who fired seven shots at the would-be robber will not be charged, according to the prosecutor.

The Cass County prosecutor’s office announced Tuesday that Cordelius Anthony Martin, 35, was arraigned Aug. 17 on charges of armed robbery, assault with intent to rob while armed and felonious assault. Martin was charged as a fourth-time habitual offender, and his bond was set at $100,000, the prosecutor said.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor said the customer inside the Stone Lake Marathon Mini Mart who shot at the would-be robber will not face any charges.
