Well, it seems the whole thing was a mess since so few understood exactly what they were voting on. Three cheers for ignorance and apathy.I'm surprised that it only takes a half of a population to enslave the other half.

I agree. The people who set up this vote 40 years ago when they joined the EU should have thought a bit deeper. On the other hand, maybe the original discussion results were, if there is not an overwhelming majority asking to stay, then we need to go.All people on the face of the Earth get the government they deserve. Why should the UK be any exception.
Wow, so many years already...! In my mind it was much more recent.this vote 40 years ago when they joined the EU
That's why I think that a monarchy is the best system of government... If I'm the one who is The King... in any other case, democracy would be the second best...I'm surprised that it only takes a half of a population to enslave the other half.
Hmmm. Speak for yourself. I've never enslaved anyone.Once upon a time we were the experts in the enslavement of people.
I've never liberated anyone, either.Usually the worst enslavers are the people that claim to be liberators...
Hmmm. Speak for yourself. I've never enslaved anyone.
Then what have you been doing with your life?I've never liberated anyone, either.
Trying to be left alone. Then what have you been doing with your life?
You're not very good at it.Trying to be left alone.
Is anyone in a world with 7.4G other people? You're not very good at it.
2016 - 1973 = 43 yearsWow, so many years already...! In my mind it was much more recent.
Yes, we have supermajority votes in some cases.I'm surprised you're surprised Joey.
Does the US Constitution, or State law, require other than simple majorities when it comes to voting?
We do not have referendums at the federal level, nor in most states. We are a republic, not a democracy. Even the states are required, by the Constitution, to have republican governments.I'm surprised you're surprised Joey.

Yes, in a couple of instances. A presidential veto requires a 2/3 majority vote in both houses to override.I'm surprised you're surprised Joey.
