Clever. I'd like to try it. As with any telescope, you quickly learn that the quality of the mount matters more than the optics.

 

Most tracking (tracking alt az mounts) telescopes can do much the same thing with the right software. I'm working with a friend at work to build a larger version of his old tracking telescope.

I gave him some high resolution surplus encoders and gears for the positioning system to lock the image so his camera could do long duration exposures.
