I've been using an SD017 for 50 years. The SS350 appears to be the ESD safe variant. I have one that I bought with a lot of Soldapullts on eBay and I've never felt the need to use it. Also have what seems to be a smaller Soldapullt; never felt the need to use it either.
Since I once destroyed a CD4047 by using a non-static-free solder sucker, I understand that they certainly deliver a static charge. SO that is a thing to be aware of.
