encoder/decoder HT12E/12D

hello friends,
the encoders and decoders are to be used with mcu tx and mcu rx only when the data out from the mcu is not of the serial order because i came accross a circuit which made use of HT12E encoder following a RCT433AS transmitter ,is this because this module accepts the data in the serial form only ?

The short answer to your question is yes.

The HT12E take in parallel data and convert it into serial data. The HT12D takes serial data and converts it to parallel data. These two devices are very useful in implementing a communication protocol that works well when combined with an rf transmission module and an rf receiver module.
