Do you really think companies will really be so willing to lose their Twitter presence, over eight measly dollars? It's a HUGE platform. That would be, like, one of the worst marketing decisions (if not THE most) that your company could possibly make.
Watch in the next few months. Advertisers are going to pretend they never advertised on Twitter. Advertisers are "pausing" their ad buys today. Next week, they'll be walking away, by December, they'll be running away. By next year, advertising execs will be saying, "Twitter? What is Twitter? I don't know what you're talking about". The site will be so full of anti-this-and-that talk, pro-the-other-thing talk and the anti and pro are nothing that any large company wants to be associated with.

So what? People have differing opinions. Nothing new there. What's even worse is censoring one side or the other. Because at that point you have basically accepted fascism. The concept of "truth" then only depends on the current party line. Dissenters will be de-platformed. The platform determines what is to be deemed as fact, everything else will be labeled "misinformation". No one will trust anything that they read anymore. Sound familiar?

Familiar to what? Are you referring to this site or are you referring to fascism?
to be clear, there is plenty of "moderation" happening on this site and every site that has reasonably friendly sounding conversations. Advertisers love to be associated with sites that are heavily moderated were aggressive conversations are deleted or blocked/closed.

Do you not understand what happens behind the scene here and other "friendly" forums you explore? it is not fascism, it is freedom of the owner to operate his/her forum the way they want. An Internet forum is a business (or a private individuals hobby project until it grows to become a business). A business is free to clean their own sidewalk, wash their windows, remove grafitti from their bathroom walls, and call the police to remove someone in their store who is shouting obscenities - it's maintaining a corporate image, it is not fascism.
The really cool part of my, "it's corporate image, not fascism" argument is, competition exists. After all, most of us live in capitalist countries were we can start our own forum ( that's all twitter is not that you can no longer create a post with text messaging/SMS.

if you look, you can find a forum that makes you happy - one that appears to have no moderation (what you call fascism). Some will let you post on about vaccines, and elections and flat-earths. But look around those sites, you'll realize they have a strange type of advertiser clientele. No S&P500 class sponsors, just shady products who are willing to pay the low, low, price of a website that never caught on to the masses - because it is a cesspool, a hellscape.

If you want to explore even deeper and beyond the hellscape, there are "unmoderated" sites to express your opinions that promote their lack of moderation to get you to create an account. But these Sites are actually heavily moderated to make it seem like everyone agrees with certain basic premises - like vaccines and elections. Those sites have no sponsorship except for some pills, knives or clothing that the site owner is trying to sell as he convinces you'll need these items to survive the apocalypse.

sensorshop is a concern the people should have with their government, not with companies - especially companies that you can freely choose (with your own will) not to use. Please don't counter with, " Facebook and Twitter are so large that you have to use them". I have never used either of them. My friends and family call, text me, email me or stop by my house when they want to see me. I don't sign up for Facebook, or Pintrest, or Twitter, or Instagram or any other free-for-all social media because I don't need my voice heard there and nothing important has ever been said exclusively on those sites. I can see it in one of my newspaper subscriptions if it is important. And, if one of those newspaper publishers wants to suppress "important announcements" on Twitter because it doesn't fit the newspaper's "Brand/Corporate Image", I'm ok with that too.

So, if you haven't gleaned it yet, this site is heavily "moderated" (you seemed to use a different phrase above) but they seem to be doing a pretty good job finding high-end advertisers (IC manufacturers, electronic distributors and equipment manufacturers). I also appreciate the fact that they have no click-bait ads like at the bottom of most news media webpages.

Also, many people think they are "Twitter Customers" if they use Twitter. Unfortunately, since you are not paying anything to Twitter, you are not a customer. In Twitter's case, their customers are their advertisers - and you, the "content viewers" are what Twitter sells to their advertisers. Allowing you to post your own content is jsut Twitter's way to keep your eyeballs accessible to their customers (Advertisers).

Since Mastodon is apparently not interested in selling advertising, it might have an attraction for some people. Hopefully not the people who would attempt to destroy it. I'm going to hesitate for the time being. since being a social media guinea pig is not my idea of a good time.

Twitter now asks some fired workers to please come back
Some of those who are being asked to return were laid off by mistake, according to two people familiar with the moves. Others were let go before management realised that their work and experience may be necessary to build the new features Musk envisions, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing private information.
Seems to be a real 's#!t-show' there.

never cared about blue bird but the owners are are entitled to do with their investment as they please. btw, that call to come back was for handful (few dozens) of people fired by mistake. not a significant number considering 3700 were sent home.

When a junior-level communications employee and an HR recruiter are getting called back, ya gotta wonder if it's more than just 24 to 36 employees. Especially when those are the only two Twitter employees I know of, both were fired and both called back.

Twitter indefinitely suspends the $8 verification program. They figured out how to collect the $8 but the couldn't ven figure out how to prevent existing verified accounts from changing their username. This had lead to a proliferation of fake (essentially unverified) account names.

Twitter's only option so far has been banning users who change their user name or making press releases that certain high value (important to twitter) account has changed their verified name.

If you allow people to screw with you, they absolutely positively will do that to you, just for kicks. In the end it is your own damn fault.

Somehow, after Twitter issues the blue dot, the owner can change the name to anything they want.
Twitter claimed it was a feature, I said, huh? Kathy Griffin (and a few thousand others who did the same thing) was banned by pro-speech Musk.
